Contacting location owners/councils

After visiting some of the derelict location we researched and started to contact the owners of the buildings and land they were on. We also contacted local government and trusts such as the NHS trust to inquire about filming.

After contacting the NHS film office we were told to write a email stating our request in further detail and to wait for an answer. After waiting over a moth we contacted the film office again over the phone and were declined shoot permission.

We then started to look at other locations we knew of or that we had found looking on the internet such as Aldwitch station and any other abandoned train stations in london, company that hire out old london route masters, the old royal mail rail service, Parkland Walk (path that runs through old rail station), The Old Asylum (old Victorian church), The Urdang Academy
(Theater company) and The Whitely Park Manor (under water ballroom) Most of these locations were either to expensive did not allow access to film crew or undergoing construction.

However we were successful in getting verbal conformation from the Haringey council to shoot at Parkland walk providing we filed out a online application form. After sending off the form we came to the conclusion it was not a suitable location for our film and retracted our request.

Filming permission was also granted at the Urdang Academy but unfortunately the dates the space was available didn't work for our dancer. The final location we were granted shoot permission was The Old Asylum, we went to visit the church and really liked the location. Unfortunately after a couple of emails the best price we could book the church for for £200.

We were also unsuccessful with the The Whitely Park Manor location. After a lot of research reading articles and blogs I discovered the owner of the underwater ballroom situated in a lake behind Whitely Park Manor was owned by a American communications tycoon named Garry Steel. We emailed his company several times through many different routes but with no luck.

The one location we were successful with is the abandoned grammar school situated off the cost of Swanage.
